This housing is offered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity and expression, familial status, national origin, citizenship status, immigrant status, primary language, marital status, ancestry, age, sexual orientation, disability, source of income (including receipt of Section 8 and other similar vouchers),genetic information, military or veteran status, arbitrary characteristics, or any other basis currently or subsequently prohibited by law.
- Individuals with a disability have the right to ask for and receive reasonable accommodations and to request auxiliary aids.
- Only one application per household is permitted. Duplicate applications will be disqualified and incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Priority One applicants must have at least one member living/working in San Leandro; applicants must provide proof of current status when the applicant is invited to apply.
- This program is lottery-based with income restrictions. Please refer to page 2 for income thresholds and additional details.
- If selected, applicants must be prepared to disclose and provide proof of all income sources, including employment verification, stubs, tax returns, gift vouchers, and voucher certificates.
When applying, the following income documents are required at time of application submission along with a $50 application fee. Deposits are equivalent to one month’s rent.
1. If employed, provide the following documents:
• Copies of Two (2) most recent, consecutive payroll stubs
• Signed copy of the most recent income tax return including all schedules for the prior year
• W-2's and all 1099's of the prior year
• Bank statements for the Three (3) most recent months - all pages
2. If self-employed, provide the following documents:
• Signed copy of the most recent income tax return including all schedules for the prior year
• W-2's and all 1099's of the prior year
• Bank statements for the Three (3) most recent months - all pages
3. If an adult household member is receiving child/spousal support, provide the following documents:
• Signed copy of the most recent income tax return including all schedules for the prior year (2018)-W-2's of the prior year
• Bank statements for the Three (3) most recent months - all pages
4. If an adult household member is receiving other benefits, provide:
• Proof of any income (e.g. Social Security, Award Letter, unemployment checks, child support)
• SSI Award Letter - if applicable (must be dated within 30 days)
• Pension/Annuity Statement - if applicable (must be dated within 30 days)
• Unemployment Benefits Letter - if applicable (must be dated within 30 days) .. Signed copy of the most recent income tax return including all schedules for the prior year W-2's and all 1099's of the prior year
• Bank statements for the Three (3) most recent months - all pages
5. If you are a student: Full-time student households must meet one of 5 IRS exceptions:
• Any member(s) of the household is married and is filing (or is entitled to file) a joint tax return
• Be receiving assistance under Title IV of the Social Security Act (AFDC, Cal Works, or TANF not SSA/SSI)
• Have recently exited the Foster Care System
• Be enrolled in a job training program under the JTPA or WIA or under another similar Federal, State of local law
• Be single parent with a child (or children) and neither the parent or children are claimed as a dependent on a third parties tax return
